ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The credit union world is complex. From existing compliance burdens to new rules and regulations, the government plays a massive role in how your credit union operates minute-to-minute and how you're ultimately able to meet all of your members' needs. Those complexities can be made better or worse depending on your relationship with public officials who pass or kill laws and regulations affecting you.
Highlighting your service to members, your community and the next generation through REAL Solutions® programs - like making very small loans and promoting financial literacy-is the first step in protecting, promoting and preserving the credit union charter. The most effective way to do that is with face-to-face meetings with the decision makers. Simply put, if you sit on the sidelines, your future will be decided for you without your concerns factoring in the decision-making.
Remember, we have 38 freshmen legislators in Madison who will only be completing their first year in office. And their term has been as controversial as it has been busy. Therefore, it is absolutely essential you visit with them and explain in plain terms how your credit union makes a difference in the lives of many of the voters in their districts! You cannot afford to miss the 2012 State GAC.
