...because of operational challenges
Part five in a series about the value of League
membership
League consultants were busy in 2011 offering
support, ideas, knowledge, referrals and more to address a diverse array
of complex issues affecting credit unions’ operations, service and
financial performance. This past year we:
-
Provided guidance on the Corporate Stabilization
Program including analysis of
program developments, consolidation of program news online and direction
to assess and account for program costs.
-
Analyzed credit unions’
financial statements. League consultants identified ways to
reduce costs, free up cash, increase income, target areas for loan
growth, improve asset/liability management and more.
-
Provided insights and
strategic analysis. League consultants helped credit unions
analyze the cost and impact of adding new services, prepare for board
meetings and exams, complete planning sessions and simply navigate
everyday challenges via hundreds of phone calls and in-person visits
annually. The Small Credit Union
Initiative – which offers
participating credit unions assistance valued at $10,000 – walked
participants through a prescribed plan for growth.
-
Provided individually
tailored HR consulting and
training addressing policies,
hiring and/or termination, recordkeeping, performance evaluations,
position descriptions, wages and hours (exemptions, hours worked, etc.),
suspicious activity reporting, absenteeism/leave, disability, family and
medical leave, and internal investigations.
"Smaller credit unions know they can contact me any time with
questions, for advice, referrals or just about any concern," said Senior
Consultant Rockeman, who reports on operational issues through his
column in League News called From Red to
Black.
"I’m traveling the state constantly to remove obstacles, point to
opportunities and support credit unions as they evolve and grow. League
membership puts so many resources within reach. I know that for smaller
credit unions in particular that’s especially valuable," he
said.
