Credit Unions: A Valuable Resource
Credit unions want to be a resource for Wisconsin lawmakers. Please call on an area credit union or The Wisconsin Credit Union League to provide you with helpful resources and information. Our Government Affairs team is conveniently located across the street from the Capitol at the Credit Union House, 1 E. Main, Suite 101. You're welcome to drop in anytime!
The League and credit unions can provide:
- Interpretation of financial issues affecting consumers.
Your constituents are all affected by financial issues. We'll be glad to share our expert perspectives on issues such as regulation of the financial industry, consumers' financial needs, identity theft, lending, financial education, taxation, etc.
- Valuable contacts in your district.
We'll help you get in touch with our nearly 175 member credit unions and their 2.4 million member-owners. They, too, are an invaluable resource on financial issues and more. They want to meet you and let their members know where you stand on the issues. The League can help arrange a visit with credit union members, staff, and Board of Directors.
- Help with community projects.

What is a credit union?
A credit union is a cooperative financial institution that is owned by its members and has no stockholders. Because a credit union is a not-for-profit, it returns earnings to members via more competitive rates of return on accounts, lower interest on loans, lower or fewer fees and improved services.
