PREPARE NOW: Grassroots Push and MBL
Hike
Wisconsin credit unions will have to compete with
hundreds of other issues fighting for attention during the Lame Duck
session. Be sure you have a plan to assure high levels of
participation.
In the coming weeks there will be a nationwide effort to advance
the Credit Union Small Business Jobs Act (SB
2231/H.R.1418) through both the House and
Senate during the Lame Duck Session. There is limited
time in which this can occur, just between Thanksgiving and
Christmas. It is crucial that Wisconsin's credit unions prepare now for
a strong grassroots campaign.
As part of this effort, CUNA is hosting a Member Business
Lending Hike the Hill November 27th and November 28th in
Washington, D.C. which Wisconsin credit unions are invited to
participate in.
Please consider the following ways you, your colleagues, credit
union and members can participate:
HIKE THE HILL
It will be key to have strong Wisconsin representation in this
Hike to share the real life benefits and need for this legislation.
Who
Credit union CEOs, directors and staff, and small
businesses that:
- have received a business loan from a credit union
- were turned down by banks when seeking a business loan
- could not receive a business loan from their credit union because of
the MBL cap
When
November 27th, 5:00 pm to November 28th, late afternoon.
