Tell Congress on video: Don't Tax My Credit Union!

Credit unions are using videos like this one from Kim Youngblood of Focus CU to fight for the preservation of their tax status. Visit The League's YouTube channel and Facebook page for more examples, and make your own video using Vine for your Apple or Android device to share on social media. Message from the Hill: "Keep telling your story"
During their Congressional visits last week, Wisconsin Activists were urged to leave no room for misunderstanding about credit unions' cooperative structure that saves U.S. consumers $8 billion annually—the reason for credit unions' tax treatment. A Senate Finance Committee letter is asking Senators for input to rewrite tax law starting from a "blank slate," requiring Activists not to simply defend the CU tax status, but to advocate that it be included. Changes coming to brass|STUDENT PROGRAM this fall
Credit unions will have a chance to put their own mark on the brass|STUDENT PROGRAM with distribution changes this fall. In an effort to build new CU-school relationships and reinforce existing ones, the Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation and brass invite credit unions to help sponsor brass materials for the high schools in your area through two new mini-package options. These options represent a simple, cost-effective way to partner with the Foundation and provide expanded content on behalf of your credit union. Any credit union can become as convenient, or more so, than the nation's largest banks, thanks to shared branching—credit unions' collaborative effort to attract and retain members by cost-effectively expanding convenience. In fact, shared branching is identified as a means of fostering service excellence as part of credit unions' national campaign for growth, Unite for Good. Research reveals member-friendly sources of non-interest income
Credit unions striving to balance their need for non-interest income without relying on overly punitive fees can learn from a 2012 Filene Research Institute brief, "In Search of Member-Friendly Noninterest Income." The research, co-sponsored by CUNA Mutual Group, measured how important specific sources of non-interest income were to credit unions and which sources provided the best value for members. Wisconsin youth save over a quarter of a million dollars in April
More than $304,599 was saved by Wisconsin's young credit union members as part of the 2013 Youth Savings Challenge, held in April in conjunction with National Credit Union Youth Week. A total of 1,691 young members in Wisconsin under the age of 18 made deposits for an average of about $180 per child. 115 new youth accounts were opened. FULL STORY

Congratulations, Foundation scholarship winner!
Jeremy Yardley, President of Southshore Credit Union, will receive up to $2,000 in financial aid as part of the Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation's CUNA Management School Scholarship. The program, which convenes in Madison in July, is our movement's longest-running high-level education program.
