For credit unions, it's a busy month of involvement in financial education activities that continue year-round because of credit unions' unique cooperative structure that emphasizes improving the financial position of their 2.4 million member-owners in Wisconsin. Gebert to receive Foundation's Development Education (DE) Scholarship
Nilsa Gebert of Focus Credit Union will receive the Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation's Development Education Scholarship, worth up to $2,000. The DE program is a credit union philosophy immersion program that challenges attendees to apply cooperative problem solving to local and world issues. The Foundation supports grants and scholarships, financial education, credit union development and the CU system in times of need.
Help a teacher or employee improve their financial lessons
Registration is open for the National Institute of Financial & Economic Literacy in Madison. Credit unions sponsor local high school teachers to attend this summer workshop to help improve their financial lessons for students. If you have a school branch it's a way to deepen your relationship and, if not, to create a relationship with educators. Or, sponsor an employee who focuses on financial education. The cost is just $300.
