held at the Hilton Monona Terrace in Madison.
Book your room early.
Compliance
New number to
call for answers to compliance questions
Credit unions have a new number to call when they’re seeking an answer
to a compliance question. The direct line, (262) 408-6098, rings phones
for all four compliance staff to ensure a speedy pickup, and if necessary,
forwards your voicemail to the staff as part of an e-mail. As always,
compliance staff can also be reached individually by either phone or
email.
Credit unions have options on
updating NCUA insurance sign
The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA)
has announced changes to its rules for its official sign in light of the
temporary increase on its share insurance protection from $100,000 to
$250,000.

Educators CU and the Office of Credit
Unions settle dispute over the credit union's car services
Educators Credit Union has
settled its dispute with the Office of Credit Unions (OCU) over the
credit union's ability to own and operate a retail automobile dealership.
The settlement allows the credit union 18 months to get the law clarified
to clearly allow the service or to transfer the business to a third party.
Educators Credit Union established the retail automobile dealership in
2002 to provide members and the community with hassle-free car buying
resources. Earlier this year, the Wisconsin Automobile and Truck
Association filed a complaint with OCU saying that the credit union
charter does not allow credit unions to offer this service.
Sponsor a local teacher for
the 2009 National Institute of Financial and Economic Literacy!
Plan early to
sponsor a teacher for the
2009 National Institute of Financial and Economic Literacy – week-long
workshops that instruct educators how to teach young people the basics of
personal finance. These popular workshops, which take place on the
Edgewood College campus in Madison, are your chance to help young people
build a financially solvent future. Teacher sponsorship for each full week
costs $225 – a bargain! – and includes lodging, meals and the teacher’s
registration. Wisconsin credit unions sponsor a majority of the event’s
attendees. The League has sponsored the Institute since its inception in
2001.
