Add your voice to secure "yes" vote on S.2231

In this video, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid applauds Colorado Senator Mark Udall for his steadfast support to raise the arbitrary cap on credit unions' business lending and promises a vote on the issue by the full U.S. Senate. Add your voice (see story below) to ensure the bill passes when that critical vote is held.

Add your voice to the list of those supporting business lending bill
Credit unions should maintain a steady stream of contacts to the offices of Wisconsin's two U.S. Senators, Herb Kohl and Ron Johnson, in support of S. 2231. The proposed federal legislation, which will help small businesses and create jobs, has a long bipartisan list of organizations that have joined the effort urging the Senators to back the bill. Compliance Compass: Bylaw amendment declares commitment against conversion
Because of a 2011 amendment to the Wisconsin Statutes, state-chartered credit unions can now convert directly to stock savings banks or state banks. The League opposed that controversial change (which was promoted by the banking industry), in part because the law requires that the conversion plan be approved only by a majority of the members who vote on it (not a majority of all members). In this edition of Compliance Compass, the League's Legal Affairs Counsel Paul Guttormsson explains how credit unions can declare their commitment to remaining not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperatives, simply by updating their bylaws. Workplace investor ed program returning, webinars announced
A new round of Investor Education in Your Workplace (IEiYW) courses are slated to begin this October in Wisconsin. IEiYW and its partners are hosting webinars to show your credit union, SEGs and other local businesses how to participate in this training, which has been proven to positively impact investing behavior.
