For The Record
outlines how credit unions' REAL Solutions support state efforts
Wisconsin credit unions’ REAL Solutions initiative is helping to advance
state efforts with programs that financially educate youth, help tax
filers avoid predatory loans at tax time and save and invest for a college
education, according to
The League’s November For The Record publication.
For the Record
is a monthly publication used to educate legislators about the credit
union difference and inform them about current issues that concern credit
unions. Credit unions and Activists can use past
issues of
For the Record to support their educational efforts with lawmakers.
Motivate staff and board involvement in
Activism with The League’s Activist video
Use The
League’s Activist video to teach your staff and board about the “Credit
Union Difference” and motivate their involvement in Activism. The
video aims to help recruit new Activists by providing a context in which
recruits understand and appreciate what’s so special about credit unions
and why strong Activism is critical to preserving and growing the
movement. It also features almost a dozen credit union Activists sharing
their experiences concerning how credit unions have helped members and
their communities – both historically and today. The video, which is free
to all member credit unions, is available for ordering.

Sponsor a local teacher for the 2009 National Institute of Financial and
Economic Literacy!
Plan early to
sponsor a teacher for the
2009 National Institute of Financial and Economic Literacy – week-long
workshops that instruct educators how to teach young people the basics of
personal finance. These popular workshops, which take place on the
Edgewood College campus in Madison, are your chance to help young people
build a financially solvent future. Teacher sponsorship for each full week
costs $225 – a bargain! – and includes lodging, meals and the teacher’s
registration. Wisconsin credit unions sponsor a majority of the event’s
attendees. The League has sponsored the Institute since its inception in
2001.
