House tax reform draft is a big win for credit unions

Credit union leaders from Wisconsin were strong advocates in D.C.
A record 4,400-plus credit union advocates attended the Credit Union National Association's Governmental Affairs Conference in February, including nearly 60 Activists from Wisconsin. Their presence sent Congress a strong message that credit unions are attentive and engaged on a variety of issues crucial to the industry including taxation, member business lending, housing finance reform, data security, and more. Two League directors re-elected, new director added
Wisconsin credit unions have spoken, re-electing two representatives and adding a third to the League Board of Directors. Jennifer Schilling of Empower Credit Union and Mike Mallow of Sheboygan Area Credit Union have been re-elected in Regions 3 and 5, respectively, and Jack Peplinski (left) of Altra Federal Credit Union has been elected to represent credit unions in Region 1. Their terms begin in May. Congratulations!

Attend a FREE Young Professionals' Boot Camp in Eau Claire
Young leaders ages 35 and younger will gather at Royal Credit Union in Eau Claire March 27 for a dialog on service excellence. Register now to secure your spot, and as part of the YP Network in Wisconsin, you'll have access to other free learning, sharing and networking opportunities in 2014. YP Boot Camps acquaint young credit union leaders with the issues, resources and peer connections that can help credit unions and the movement succeed.
Encourage students to participate in #brassmoneymonth contest in April
The brass|STUDENT PROGRAM has unveiled its new 2014 Financial Literacy Month contest: #brassmoneymonth! Throughout April, brass will ask students and teachers to snap creative photos demonstrating ways to save, make a budget, use credit responsibly and give back to their school or community. Plan to attend the Small Credit Union CEO Roundtable for just $25 March 12 in Wisconsin Dells, which will provide a state issue overview and focus on the latest slew of mortgage lending regulations. Also register for the Compliance Roundtable March 20, also in the Dells, which will cover a wide range of key compliance requirements in 2014 and coming in 2015, and the Collections Roundtable April 10 in Appleton.
