REAL Focus: financial education heats up this summer
Even though I've worked for several years with Jim Drogue as part of our REAL Solutions initiative, it's still a big honor to take the helm of the program with his recent retirement.
As VP of Development for The
League, I'll continue working with our YP Network and others to
foster service excellence and create greater awareness of credit unions'
unique value as member-owned cooperatives.
In fact, these are two key
action steps of credit unions' internal campaign for CU growth called
"Unite for Good." I urge you
to review the campaign's action steps and contact me with ideas you may have to advance our collective progress in
this national effort.
Our REAL Solutions initiative mirrors the campaign nicely, emphasizing pro-consumer programs, pricing and policies that will compel more Americans to realize credit unions are in fact their best financial partner. To the extent we continue our REAL Solutions effort, and round out what we do with additional steps from the UFG campaign, credit unions will improve operations, become more powerful players on legislative and regulatory issues and grow significantly.
Our Scorecard shows Wisconsin
credit unions are leading the way tracking the value they provide
members and communities and looking for ways to tell their success
stories. Case in point: Superior Choice Credit
Union – which received in 2011 a REAL Solutions
grant – is the latest
Wisconsin credit union honored with a Wisconsin Financial Literacy Award
– a testament to credit unions' commitment to do right by
consumers. Congratulations, SCCU!
And speaking of Unite for Good, it was just announced as the theme for this year's International Credit Union Day, which we'll be celebrating on October 17.
As always, contact me at (608) 514-0080 if you have any questions.
