Throughout Phase III of Wisconsin’s "Don’t Tax My Credit Union"
advocacy efforts, credit unions should illustrate what’s at
risk and encourage grassroots support by:
Enlisting the help of young professionals to
showcase the member and community benefits that are possible thanks to
credit unions’ tax status and cooperative structure, such
as in-school branches.
Offering members the opportunity to protect
their financial institution by asking them to sign Don’t
Tax My Credit Union postcards.
Using social media to drive staff and members
to www.DontTaxMyCreditUnion.org to view the video and contact Congress. Social media
like Facebook and Twitter offer great opportunities to connect the need
to protect credit unions tax exemption, through stories of credit
unions’ benefits for individuals, families, small businesses,
local organizations and communities, with an easy way to advocate with a
pre-written email to legislators.
