GAC is a must-attend event to protect
members
The state Government Affairs
Conference, Jan 22-23 in Madison, is a
must-attend event. Not only will every credit union qualify for at least
one of our registration deals or freebies, but also you'll hear from
former Leaguer and Racine Mayor John Dickert, get the post-election
analysis from top Wisconsin political observers and dialog with newly
elected legislators who may know little about financial institutions
just as they begin work on our state budget – a process that is
critical to safeguarding member protections.
Plan to attend because:
- Twenty eight completely new lawmakers will take their seats
in January. Twelve of the 28 new additions have never held public office
before, though some of them have other experience in Wisconsin
government. Our group of Activists will visit with all 132
legislative offices. Our goal this year, and every year, is to make sure
every Wisconsin lawmaker fully understands the difference between a
credit union and a bank as well as the issues you face in trying to meet
your members' needs. Unless you're there to explain the CU Difference, the challenges you face on the
regulatory front, and how you're offering your members help that they
can't find elsewhere, they won't know how to vote on the issues
important to your CU and the 2.3 million members in
Wisconsin.

Racine Mayor and former League Director of Government
Affairs John Dickert will address our group.

- Legislators need your guidance before they complete the
state budget. The state budget process is critical in that
measures that are either helpful or hurtful to credit unions can become
part of this massive legislation, over which public debate often becomes
focused only on a few key issues. We must ensure that legislators
appreciate credit unions' perspectives so that our issues are protected
and don't get lost in the shuffle as the budget is crafted.
- Gain insights from top political observers and key
legislators. Award-winning Marquette University Law School
Professor Charles Franklin will share his post-election analysis and
Jeff Mayers, President of WisPolitics.com will facilitate a panel
discussion on politics and policies. Racine Mayor and former League
Director of Government Affairs John Dickert will also address the group,
as well as state lawmakers who – through their committee and
leadership roles --most influence financial institutions. Hear their
views and understand your state government from the inside out!
- There's a registration deal for everyone! Take advantage of $99 registration for young professionals (includes a
pre-conference workshop Jan. 21), first-timers and Conduit Account holders.
Also get up to 2 free registrations by being a payroll deduction CU, and by adding five new employees to the program by January
4.
