Attend a chapter meeting to eat, network, learn…enjoy!

Have you been to a credit union chapter meeting?

Now’s your chance, because every September marks the start of a new chapter meeting season. Chapter meetings are a place for credit union people to network, learn, play a role in credit union advocacy and enjoy engaging speakers. The meetings are open to all credit union staff, volunteers and guests.

The meetings are usually held in the evenings at a local restaurant around dinnertime, and include a social hour and meal. The meetings are usually held once a month, roughly from September through May. Attendance at the meetings ranges from 30 people to more than 100, depending on the chapter.

The meetings are a great way to learn more about credit unions, meet peers who do the same kind of work, and sometimes, to get involved in grassroots efforts – such as networking with legislators – that can help credit unions and their members.

Besides bowling, golf, wine tasting, tailgates, live comedy and casino nights, chapters are featuring some interesting speakers. Here are a few of their topics:

If you’d like to attend, ask your supervisor. You'll want to receive copies of your chapter's meeting reminders and get counted in the head-count for dinner. Some attendees pay for the meal on their own, while in some cases there are other ways this cost is covered.
