FMLA Workshop helps you implement complex
employment law
The state and federal Family and Medical Leave Act, taken together, are
two of the most complex employment laws to implement on a practical
basis. If your credit union has 50 or more employees or is approaching
this threshold, don't miss this important workshop Dec. 4.
The workshop will address:
 |
Jo Whiting, Executive VP and Chief Advocacy Officer for The League,
and H.R. consultant to credit unions
|
- how much leave an employee really gets
- what you can tell others about an employee's
extended absence
- what you can do when you think someone
is abusing a leave; and
- what to do if the person whose leave is expiring
still can't come back to work.
You'll work through a model policy, review
recent rulings and guidance from state and federal agencies and courts,
and learn from peers how they've dealt with these issues with real-life
scenarios.
"This training is designed to be reality-based and practical-not just
'here's the law,' but 'here's how to apply it in a real workplace,'"
said presenter Joanne Whiting, Executive Vice President and Chief
Advocacy Officer for The League and H.R. consultant to credit
unions.
Having practiced management-side employment
law in private practice as an attorney and worked with employers for
more than 20 years, Jo has extensive knowledge about how the FMLA
affects credit unions. She has spoken about compliance at seminars and
training sessions for employers, their employees, credit unions, CUNA
and state leagues.
