CUNA Mutual Group: a partner that strengthens
the CU movement
Credit unions' patronage of CUNA Mutual
Group builds the collective strength of the credit union movement. Last
year, this system partner not only provided credit union support but
also more than $35 million to credit union leagues and associations, the
National Credit Union Foundation and its Credit Union Development
Education program, the Filene Research Institute and other credit union
organizations; $962 million in benefits paid to domestic credit union
policyholders; and more than $1.2 billion in benefits paid to domestic
policyholders.
But CUNA Mutual Group's support also extends
far beyond financial support. To help ensure the future of credit unions
and meet the financial needs of 94 million credit union
members—2.3 million of whom live in Wisconsin—the company
also participated in a number of initiatives last
year including:
- Collaboration with state Leagues and national
associations
- Political advocacy and a dedicated Corporate and Legislative
Affairs team working to support the future of the credit union
industry, including advocacy on the tax exempt status of credit unions,
critical mortgage lending reform, the IRS’ Unrelated Business
Income Tax, and Regulation Z
- Involvement to address credit card and check fraud
in the credit union system
Each year brings new challenges and new
unknowns. As credit unions navigate the uncertain terrain ahead, CUNA
Mutual Group is there, every step of the way.
