Good news! STAR Announces Interchange Increases

STAR announced an increase in STAR standard point of sale interchange. STAR stated that these new POS interchange rates more appropriately compensate STAR debit card issuers for the added value provided by on-line, real-time PIN debit transactions.

As part of its long-term strategy to help members promote PIN-secured debit at merchant locations and stimulate new debit card issuance and usage, the STAR Network recently announced modifications to its STAR POS interchange. In addition, a new All-STAR program was created to offer additional revenue opportunities to financial institution members choosing STAR as their preferred PIN POS network.

“STAR believes that PIN-secured debit offers many advantages, including a more secure and convenient payment option for consumers and merchants,” says Kevin Barry, General Manager of the STAR Network. “To supplement the member benefits of our new interchange rates, STAR also continues its product innovation efforts through the development of new payment and transaction types, and new merchant categories.
