Collector/Loan Officer

Marathon County Employees Credit Union in Wausau is seeking person for collections and lending. This person reports to the President. MCECU is a full service credit union with $23 M in assts serving 2,518 members. We are a closed chartered credit union proudly serving government employees and their families.

 

Position Summary: Responsible for the control of late and/or delinquent loan accounts. Make follow up telephone calls on delinquent loan accounts and maintain accurate records on delinquent loan accounts. Optimize collections on accounts while balancing the goodwill of members with the overall business interest of the credit union. Responsible for providing information to members on credit union products and services. Responsible for interviewing and evaluating applicants for loans and processing loan applications. Gather background information and analyze loan applicants' credit history. Approve or deny loan applications based on analysis. Opportunities for advancement as the credit union grows.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Cross sell lending and other credit union products. 2. Monitor payments for late and/or delinquency status. Follow up on delinquents, high-balance, and overdue credit balances accounts by phone and/or letter. Ensure professional interface with members. 3. Assess members to determine the reasons for delinquency and assist them in developing plans to bring accounts to a current status. Develop workout plans and collect on overdue accounts whenever possible. Financial Counseling. 4. Update the computer system that tracks member collection efforts. 5. Maintain accurate and complete files and records. 6. Skip trace on loan accounts. Maintain accurate data for repossession log, bankruptcy files, charge-off lists, etc. 7. Collect on past charge offs. 8. Determine when to compromise and settle balances and when to initiate foreclosure or repossession of collateral. 9. Handle repossessions. Work with Attorney to handle foreclosures. 10. File court action for collections. Follow up through garnishments. 11. File all claims, attend hearings, and coordinate with trustees for all bankruptcy filings. 12. Investigate and correct any discrepancies in loan applications and credit bureau reports. 13. Assist members with loan application process to ensure completeness of information to meet the member's needs. 14. Assist loan applicants with other credit union products and services to meet their financial needs. Ex: Direct Deposit for loan payments. 15. Call members to assess their lending needs. 16. Gather background information on loan applicants by interviews and obtaining credit bureau reports. 17. Underwrite loans. 18. Approve or deny loans and complete all necessary paperwork in regards to both. 19. When a loan is denied, explain the reason for denial in a professional, courteous manner. Work with member to provide recommendations or alternative options for other possible ways to secure a loan in the future. 20. Implement new loan products and services in accordance with management direction. 21. Performs other duties as assigned by the President.

 

Position Qualifications: 1. We are looking for the right combination of enthusiasm, intellect, attention to detail, communication skills, integrity, dependability, honesty, commitment and ability to operate efficiently in a self-directed manner within in a small business environment. 2. Minimum of an Associate Degree and three years' experience in collections and or lending position with broad authority and responsibility. 3. Knowledge and experience with lending and collecting regulations. 4. Self-starter with ability to work independently. 5. Empathy. Ability to put yourself into the members' financial situation. 6. Ability to effectively communicate and to be a team player.

 

Wage Range: $30,000 - $35,000

Accountant

Position Summary: This position is responsible for assuring the overall accuracy, integrity and reliability of the credit union's financial results including daily, weekly and monthly reports, financial statements, regulatory reports and the like. This position assures that transactions are reported timely and accurately reflect the substance of the activity which occurred. This position has opportunity to grow in the organization.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for recording all accounting entries on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Assures that accounting records are maintained accurately and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. 2. Prepares account reconciliations monthly to assure the accuracy of the reporting system. 3. Develops and prescribes adequate financial procedures to ensure compliance with established policy and generally accepted accounting principles. 4. Prepares monthly financial statements to accurately reflect the activity for that period. 5. Prepares all reporting for regulatory agency and government reports. 6. Responsible for month-end accrual entries and adjusting entries. 7. Responsible for filing of IRS and state tax tapes/forms. 8. Assures the accurate accounting and reporting for monthly fixed asset, prepaid, and investment subsidiaries. 9. Responsible for monitoring all changes in general ledger and accounting practices to assure proper accounting principles are used. 10. Responsible for filing the Quarterly Call Report. 11. Assists Senior Management with the preparation and implementation of the Business Plan, Forecasting and periodic analysis of budget variance. 12. Performs other duties as assigned by the President.

 

Position Qualifications: 1. We seek a talented and mission oriented individual with accounting and finance skills demonstrated by progressively increasing responsibility for managing accounting systems. 2. Wage Range: $29,000 - $34,000

Vice President of Lending

Role: To direct and coordinate all lending activities within the credit union, insuring compliance with credit union lending policy; assist in development of lending policy; manage lending activity to meet credit union goals and objectives.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities: Directs and monitors lending and collection operations for the entire credit union to ensure that the credit union meets established goals and objectives with respect to lending. Monitors product delivery and quality and takes action to resolve problems. Chairs loan committee. Arranges for loan applications to go to the loan committee. Provides an overview and recommendations for the committee. Develops, proposes, gains acceptance for and implements lending program policy and strategy; leads activity related to new product development with respect to lending programs. Prepares department scheduling, periodic loan department updates, and periodic reports for management's financial and operational reports including; new loan report, loan officer statistical report, consumer potential problem reports. Participates in establishment of annual department budget and monitors performance to budget throughout the year; establishes annual sales goals (in conjunction with marketing) for lending programs and initiates action to achieve established goals. Examines, evaluates, authorizes or recommends approval of member applications for consumer loans, indirect loans, and real estate loans. Serves as a member of the Asset/Liability Committee to develop operating procedures that assure the credit union maintains sufficient levels of capital, liquidity and pricing spreads. Analyzes loan data reports for any corrective action. Insures the credit union is in compliance with all lending regulations; develops procedural changes as compliance requires or new programs demand. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Experience: Five years to ten years of similar or related experience.

 

Education: A college degree.

 

Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.

 

Other Skills: Must have in-depth understanding of and ability to interpret regulations affecting lending programs. Extensive knowledge of consumer and real estate lending practices and procedures as well as collection practices and procedures. Should be able to run spreadsheet and word processing software.

Mortgage Loan Processor

This individual will be responsible for completing required disclosures and following up with Loan Officers on the status of their files including any changes to loans. Job Summary: The Member Experience Director will be responsible for the member service experience and living our mission statement in all aspects of Unison Credit Union. Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the member service experience and living our mission statement in all aspects of Unison
  • Make observations on how and where we can make improvements in regards to; procedures, policies, interactions, marketing promotions, etc.
  • Work to create goals and incentives for staff, working towards a pay based on performance structure
  • Motivate, train, mentor, and coach staff
  • Maintain knowledge base of credit union products, procedures and policies as they relate to consumer lending and member service
  • Will work in all areas of the credit union and with all managers
  • Provide a proactive "through the member's eyes" look at our service culture

  • Perform all duties in accordance with the credit union's service standards, operation policies and procedures, and in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations
  • Conduct personal and mortgage loan interviews
  • Cross-sell credit union products and services to members by identifying a financial need and communicating the features and benefits of each product and service
  • Open new accounts including savings, checking, certificates, IRA accounts, and business accounts
  • Knowledge of auto funds transfer, payroll deduction, ACH origination and distribution
  • Explain products and services and train members, via telephone, to utilize electronic services.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in consumer lending of 3 - 5 years, including but not limited to origination, processing and compliance
  • Past experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong time management skills
  • A passion for service and leadership
  • Self-direction; works under his/her own initiative, and makes decisions with little supervision
  • Exceptional member service skills
  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for serving credit union members and projecting a positive image as a representative of the credit union
  • Effective oral communication skills to converse with members in person and correspond in writing
  • Experience in the member service area of a credit union or financial institution is preferred
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills are a must
  • Basic computer skills necessary
  • Must be eligible to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) and must maintain registration with NMLS as a registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO)

 

Previous training experience desired Education:

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent
