Want to improve members’ lives and your community? Apply for a Development Education (DE) Scholarship!
The DE Program, offered by the National Credit Union Foundation, is our movement’s premier “philosophy immersion” program. It can supercharge your career by helping you tap the principles unique to cooperatives to make a difference locally.
The program challenges participants to explore issues affecting members and local quality of life from the unique perspective of our shared principles. Attendees have come from the U.S. and 34 other nations.
A week of presentations, discussions, simulations and/or an occasional field trip impart how credit unions’ cooperative ownership structure positions credit unions to offer services, outreach and solutions that strengthen families and communities as well as local and global economies. It’s not a "training;" it’s an “experience.” Participants put their knowledge into action with team and individual projects.
DE graduates—who become certified Credit Union Development Educators—offer the best testimonies of how the program has transformed their perspective on their work, influenced their contributions to our Movement and made them some of credit unions’ most vocal Activists.
Because the program taps the values we share within credit unions, participants “leave their titles at the door;” everyone from front line staffers to CEOs discover strategies to bring their personal best to their roles while advancing credit unions’ impact as a whole.
When the program ends, the real impact begins - participants stay in touch to support the efforts they embark on that grow and strengthen communities across the country.
The scholarship applies to the DE training in Madison Sept. 19-26, 2018.
Apply between March 15-April 30. Winners will be notified by May 15.
