Filene cites how it drives meaningful change for credit unions and their members

The Filene Research Institute isn't just the credit union movement's "think" tank; it also promotes best practice development and implementation to ensure the most promising ideas come to fruition to benefit credit unions and their 95 million members in the U.S.

Over the past year Filene:

  • Released 32 research reports spanning public policy, consumer behavior and strategy issues

  • Launched 6 new programs around social media, online strategies, innovation and leadership

  • Hosted 11 member engagement meetings, colloquia and workshops

  • Engaged young credit union professionals through the grassroots activities of the Cooperative Trust, including 4 Crash events

2014 marked the start of Filene's 25th anniversary delivering research, innovation and impact thinking and tools to drive credit unions forward, remaining true to credit union pioneer Edward Filene's vision that the best merchants do not sell products but serve human needs.

Filene aims to deepen credit unions' relationships with existing members, reach new markets and new generations of members, and enhance credit union's model for cooperative finance as personally empowering and socially responsible, making it the preferred choice for all consumers.
