El

union members and potential members. "El Poder es Tuyo"
translates to "The Power is Yours" in English.

WOCCU's "Reaching the Hispanic Market through
Remittances" - WOCCU presents best practices and guiding
principles based on the experience of three credit unions in Iowa
implementing remittance based community outreach activities in
partnership with Coopera Consulting. More than a year after the
completion of the short-term credit union remittance outreach program,
all three credit unions continue to reach the Hispanic community,
affirming their commitment to use remittances as a vehicle for
membership growth among the Hispanic
community.

Population
(Manitowoc)
In 2006,
CUNA surveyed credit unions to measure their level of interest in
serving the Hispanic market. The results are useful and
thought-provoking.
Many credit
unions in the United States already use matricula identification cards
to open financial accounts for non-U.S. citizens, providing a safe
alternative for Mexican nationals who otherwise would be forced to use
expensive payday and predatory lenders for check-cashing and remittance
services.
