Attend the Government Affairs Conference, advance pro-CU legislation

Your voice at The League's State Government Affairs Conference in Madison Feb. 12 can play a crucial role in advancing pro-credit union legislation and strengthening the movement by further developing relationships with the legislators that represent you, your credit union and your members.

This year’s one-day event has a packed agenda, featuring top industry leaders Ryan Donovan, Senior VP of Legislative Affairs for CUNA and George Hofheimer of the Filene Research Institute, panel discussions aimed at honing your advocacy skills, a pre-conference workshop for Young Professionals, visits with your legislators and a reception with elected and agency officials.

During the legislative visits, participants will advocate for changes to the credit union administrative code that, taken together, would:

  • eliminate some disadvantages currently built into the state charter

  • reduce a small portion of the burden of regulation, and

  • allow credit unions to spend more time serving members

"Strong attendance at this year’s State Government Affairs Conference will send a clear message to legislators that credit unions are engaged and dedicated to improving the services they provide members and communities," said League VP of Government Affairs Tom Liebe.
