CU4Kids raises $327,213 in WI, $8.7 million
nationally in 2011
Wisconsin credit unions, chapters and their
system partners – as part of the nationwide Credit Unions for Kids
(CU4Kids) campaign – raised $327,213 in 2011 to help children
receiving treatment at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Compared to other states participating in CU4Kids, Wisconsin credit
unions ranked eighth with this fundraising success.
Last year credit unions across the U.S. raised
$8.7 million for the charity. This success was also impressive,
establishing credit unions as the third largest corporate contributor
behind only Wal-Mart and Costco.
"Credit unions are socially responsible and
see their support for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as a
way of serving their communities as well as helping local families,"
said League President & CEO Brett Thompson.
He explains that one-hundred percent of
donations help children in your community because funds raised in your
area go to the nearest Children’s Hospital that serves your
"I think that’s why so many credit
unions are so enthusiastic in their support; many can point to member
families that have had children treated at one of the facilities,"
"When you consider that Wisconsin credit unions support close to 3,000
local causes, projects and community organizations, their support for
the hospitals – at the level credit unions have sustained for more
than a decade – is even more astounding," he continued.
Credit unions for Kids is a network of 170
not-for-profit hospitals in North America that help 17 million children
annually, and the celebrities, corporate sponsors and television
stations that work together to promote fundraising and education in
support of those hospitals.
