Weigh in on CFPB analysis of debt collection practices


Wisconsin credit unions can comment debt collection practices as part of an advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPR) from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) that addresses debt collection and debt sales. All comments must be submitted in February.


The ANPR seeks feedback on a variety of debt collection issues to assist the CFPB in developing proposed rules or in taking other actions, such as recommending statutory initiatives or issuing guidance.

The ANPR contains 162 questions that address a wide range of debt collection issues/questions. CUNA has pared that number down to those that most directly affect credit unions.

  • Contacting Jo Whiting at The League by Feb. 14. We will prepare a comment response on behalf of Wisconsin credit unions; or



The League advocates for Wisconsin credit unions on regulatory issues to ensure their voice is well represented on issues affecting the service that Wisconsin's 2.4 million members recieve.
