Gear up for Money Smart Week in April

by Christine Henzig, Director of Communications Feb 15, 2017

The countdown is on to credit unions' financial education efforts as part of Money Smart Week, a nationally coordinated effort by partner organizations to improve Americans' financial literacy.

As Wisconsin event partners for Money Smart Week, credit unions improve consumers' financial savvy while positioning credit unions as Americans' best financial partner.

Money Smart Week is April 22-29, 2017. The national kickoff begins April 12.

Events are posted at no cost on the event page of the Money Smart Week website. None of the events promote products or services.

Credit unions coordinate with local planning teams to publicize their events as well as publicizing it on their own through their own channels, including their member newsletters, website, advertisements, etc.

If your event is for members only, you have the week before and after Money Smart Week, April 15-May 6 to have them counted as Money Smart Week events but they are not published on the event website.

Free promotional materials are available this year. Order now, because delivery takes 4-6 weeks.

An informative FAQ page has more details on how to participate.

The Unite for Good effort is an internal growth strategy developed by CUNA in conjunction with its Board, state leagues, credit unions and system partners. The plan's action steps – to remove barriers, increase awareness and foster service excellence–are aimed at helping more credit unions become their members' primary financial institution by compelling members to see credit unions as their best financial partner.
