A member was very past due on his auto loan and hadn't responded to any attempts to reach him. Finally, after we had to send the vehicle out for repossession the member contacted me. It turns out he had lost his child, turned to drugs, and lost his job. He got into therapy and was now working again, so we developed a payment plan and he was able to bring his loan current and avoid repossession. After a couple of months, he noticed how his credit score had gone down, so he reached out again and we met so I could work with him as a financial coach. He now has a plan to improve his credit score and is saving for his first home. It is very fulfilling to help someone get back on track after such hardship.
