An elderly member called our consumer lending team to get a vehicle loan, but they were unable to help her due to her debt ratio being too high. The loan officer suggested the member talk to the mortgage department to see if we could consolidate her debt with a 2nd mortgage loan. Not only were we able to do the mortgage loan and save the member $500 a month in payments, she was also able to purchase a car so she doesn’t have to borrow her daughter’s vehicle a town away anymore. The member is relieved to not have the burden of high payments and to not have to burden her daughter, too.
