Over the past few weeks, one of our team members went above and beyond to help one of our members. This member was struggling financially and on the verge of losing his Harley and becoming homeless. He was trying to find a new place to live, but, because of his not-so-great credit history, he was being turned down time and time again. He was also having difficulty getting on Social Security. This team member used all of the resources at her fingertips and called around to see if there was any place that would rent to an older 55+ man with poor credit, and found a local place that was extremely helpful and willing to speak with our member.
A few weeks later, the member reconnected with our team member and shared that the place she had contacted was now renting to him and that he had secured a new place to live. He was also now getting back pay from Social Security and able to bring his loans current. This member was so incredibly grateful to have someone go to bat for him and treat him as a person rather than a number. Our team member shared, "When I told him there was not a lot we could do for him in finding a place, it just didn’t sit well with me. I wanted to make sure he knew he was not alone. I am not sure who was more excited when I learned he got the place. Ok, it was probably him, but I was a very close second."
