Blackhawk Community Credit Union is seeking a Chief Lending Officer (CLO) who will serve in a pivotal leadership role and be responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the credit union through lending. As a key member of the senior management team, the CLO will oversee and direct lending operations through expertise, collaboration, and teamwork, fostering a culture of integrity and excellence in lending practices while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. - The position is located in Janesville, WI, but the credit union is open to this individual working remotely part of the time.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Provide thoughtful leadership in lending functions to achieve organizational goals and enhance profitability. Serve as a member of the shared senior leadership team.
- Lending Philosophy: Develop and articulate a clear lending philosophy that aligns with the success of the credit union, the membership, and our employees and ensures consistency across all lending activities.
- Lending Operations Management: Direct and oversee underwriting, commercial lending, lending operations, lending compliance, loan quality control, mortgage processing, mortgage servicing, collections, and delinquency management. Proactively seek knowledge in industry trends, products, technologies, and delivery channels to apply, advance the credit union, and make borrowing easier and more convenient for members and lending more intuitive for employees.
- Team Development: Build, develop, and support a high-performing lending team that values and practices pride, growth, success, cooperation, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Financial Performance: Drive lending revenue growth in new and existing markets and channels while managing risk effectively through sound underwriting practices and loan portfolio management. Review and analyze lending data and regularly budget and report on lending operations and performance.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic plan to transform the credit union operationally and culturally and grow it, particularly in areas related to lending.
- Representation and Leadership: Serve as a visible and respected leader within the credit union and represent the organization externally with our membership, with regulators, and in the industry.
- Ethical Standards: Uphold the highest ethical standards and integrity in all aspects of lending and decision-making.
- Policy Adherence: Develops, maintains, and ensures adherence to all lending policies, rules, and regulations, maintaining strong standards of compliance and risk management. Represents lending and takes appropriate action in exams, audits, and reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in lending operations within a financial institution, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Strong understanding of lending compliance, regulations, and risk management practices.
