Operations Manager - Racine Municipal Employees Credit Union

Summary

RMECU is looking for a positive and motivating individual that enjoys working with people and in a small business atmosphere to join the RMECU team as an Operations Manager. The Operations Manager is responsible for assisting and supporting the President/CEO in the overall operations of the credit union and acting as a Loan Officer when necessary. Ensure that daily operational needs are met including supporting staff and that quality exceptional member service is delivered to all members. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the credit union which may include assisting on the teller line to meet member service needs, answering phone calls, opening new accounts, assisting with IRA and HSA accounts, taking and processing loan applications and anything else that may be needed during the regular business day.
  • Keep President fully informed on operations of credit union and important factors influencing them. Recognize deficiencies and recommend resolutions.
  • Assist in staff scheduling to ensure proper coverage and service to members.
  • Develops and maintains personal relationships with credit union members to the greatest degree possible; manage member complaints, providing special attention in unique and high-value and/or highly sensitive cases. Appropriately explain credit union policies and procedures to members as a communication tool. Approve member exceptions and authorize fee refunds when deemed appropriate or necessary.
  • Ensure a positive member experience is consistently delivered leading by example offering exceptional service to credit union members.
  • Supports staff in such a way that allows them to provide members with an extraordinary experience. Assist in assigning work, answering questions, solving problems, and helping with complex transactions.
  • Organize and assist with periodic staff meetings to identify areas of improvement, changes in procedures, new developments, or changes in services as directed by President. Keep staff up to date on credit union information.
  • Serve as a vault teller for the credit union, which includes ordering and sending the coin and currency from credit union’s cash solution vendor, verifying cash received, filling teller cash orders, maintaining full vault security, and balancing vault cash daily.
  • Assist President in preparation of monthly board reports as assigned.
  • Work with Auditor, President, and Compliance Specialist to ensure staff compliance with regulations, internal controls, policies, and procedures. Recommend changes to President and implement as directed.
  • Serve as backup BSA and OFAC Compliance Officer in President’s absence.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by the President/CEO and Board of Directors.

Secondary/Other

  • Share responsibility for managing the public reputation of the credit union.
  • Monitor and assist with IRA and HSA administration and reporting.
  • Oversee proper availability of stamps, daily cash, gift cards, cashier checks, and instant issue stock.
  • Manage and recommend the purchase of equipment and supplies such as ink, paper, office supplies, etc.
  • Organize, monitor, and assist in ensuring relevant and required training is current for all employees.
  • Investigate and monitor teller losses and institute corrective flow of work and/or recommend corrective disciplinary action where required.
  • Assists President with preparation for audits and exams.
  • Analyzes and complete loan reports as assigned.
  • Attend strategic planning meeting and assist in developing a strategic plan and overall goals for the credit union.
  • Along with the Loan Officer, assume responsibility and accountability of the credit union President/CEO in their absence.
  • Process, close and disburse loans filling in as a Loan Officer when necessary. 

Qualifications | Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a credit union or comparable financial institution preferred.
  • Customer or member experience preferred.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Must be able to work Monday through Saturday with two Saturdays per month required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to be sympathetic and compassionate.
  • Proficient in Windows Operating System and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to adapt and learn new technologies, software, and hardware.
  • Excellent positive verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent ability working with others and independently.
  • Present a professional and business-like appearance.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.
