Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: An Introduction

Hosted by CUNA

Jun 08 1:00 PM - Jun 08, 2020 2:00 PM
Jun 08, 2020 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) has garnered a lot of attention lately both within and outside of the credit union movement. In fact, CUNA’s Board recently adopted it as a shared cooperative principle for America’s credit unions. Meanwhile, regulators and policymakers have shown increased interest and focus – on how well credit unions meet the needs of diverse populations by assessing their staffing, products and services and membership.

During this session, attendees will:

  • Learn what diversity, equity and inclusion means and why it matters
  • Gain insight on structural racism and implicit bias and how they relate to DEI
  • Develop a baseline knowledge of the history of redlining within the financial services industry and why it matters today
  • Look at wealth gaps through the generations and the effect it has on today’s society
  • Understand how changing demographics in the United States relate to DEI and the work of credit unions
