YP Conference provided tools to chart the future, help members

Young Professionals statewide networked and shared

The League's second annual Young Professionals (YP) Conference - held Oct. 20-21 at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton - energized credit unions' next generation of leaders on topics they need to shape the future. 


Lydia Harrer shared community outreach strategiesA total of 63 YPs from 31 credit unions - a diverse representation of Wisconsin - participated in the two-day networking and learning event. 


Speakers came from The League, the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), CUNA Mutual Group, The National Credit Union Foundation, CU Innovate and Royal and Capital Credit Unions.

Top executives shared their knowledge and career-building tips during lunch.

Sessions explored:

  • being member-centric
  • consultative lending
  • understanding key ratios
  • financial education and community outreach
  • diversity & inclusion
  • trends and the direction of the CU Movement

YPs also engaged in an Empathy Map exercise led by Andy Johnson of the National Credit Union Foundation, aimed at better understanding members' needs.
