Today, The Wisconsin Credit Union League Board of Directors ratified a board resolution signifying the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Wisconsin Credit Union Movement.

The resolution states:

Resolved, that The League Board supports diversity, equity and inclusion as a shared credit union cooperative principle, and recognizes that Wisconsin credit unions have a responsibility to take a leadership role in building and serving more diverse, equitable and inclusive communities;

Resolved, that The League Board further supports clearly and prominently establishing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the principles shared by all cooperatives; and

Further resolved, that the management of The League is hereby authorized to take any additional administrative actions necessary and appropriate to facilitate and implement the above resolutions consistent with the goals and objectives of the Board.

This resolution follows CUNA's adoption last September of an eighth Cooperative Principle centering on diversity, equity, and inclusion. CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle stated, "Diversity, equity and inclusion are a part of what credit unions do each and every day. Our cooperative principles have guided us to fulfill our mandate and be a resource to all consumers-no matter their income, race, religion. But we’re committed to doing more. In passing this resolution, we’re continuing our work to embrace diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within our organization while we support measures throughout our movement and across all cooperatives.”
