Giving Back

WESTconsin Credit Union donates $10,000 to area Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
WESTconsin Credit Union is pleased to announce the donation of $10,000 to area Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals from the credit union’s October National Cooperative Month and February Chain of Hearts fundraising efforts. The donation will support Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, Minnesota, and CMN Hospitals at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse in their work to provide state-of-the-art specialty treatments. WESTconsin Credit Union offering community shred events
WESTconsin Credit Union is offering free, community shred events in the area, according to a media release. The events are an opportunity to dispose of sensitive documents safely. (WESTconsin Credit Union, 4/6)

Credit Union Hosting Pet Photo Booth to Fundraise for MAPS’ Paws for Brittany
On National Pet Day (April 11) from 10:00am-1:00pm, people and their pets are welcome to stop at MMCCU to enjoy a photo booth opportunity and other treats. “We’ll also be having a special fundraiser for Marshfield Area Pet Shelter’s ‘Paws for Brittany‘ event during that time,” said MMCCU President David Murphy. “Everyone is welcome!” MMCCU is located at 302 W Upham in Marshfield. Merrill thrift store receives $5k donation to brighten up store
 St. Vincent De Paul in Merrill has been around for decades. The thrift store was in need help with its electronics, specifically, the lights. It hadn't had new lighting for over 20 years. St. Vincent got their need fulfilled when Connexus Credit Union stepped in an donated $5,000 to them. (Connexus Credit Union, 4/10)

giveBIG returns with 80 nonprofit participants
giveBIG St. Croix Valley, the highly anticipated online giving event powered by United Way St. Croix Valley, returns to the St. Croix Valley on April 25. giveBIG takes place entirely online, allowing donors to conveniently make contributions to their favorite organizations from the comfort of their own homes. giveBIG is a unique opportunity for individuals to support a variety of causes and organizations with a few simple clicks. This year’s event features a diverse group of more than 75 nonprofits, including those focused on education, the environment, pets and more. (WESTconsin Credit Union, Royal Credit Union, 4/21)

Easter egg hunts happening in La Crosse area
Saturday, there are two Easter egg hunts happening in the La Crosse area. Altra Federal Credit Union is hosting their 51st Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Onalaska Omni Center.  The grounds open at 10 a.m. and the event is open to everyone in the community. There are several door prizes to win, as well as a grand prize bike for members of the credit union. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos. (Altra Federal Credit Union, 4/6)

Premier Financial Credit Union's annual Easter Egg Hunt at 11 a.m. Civic Park ages 10 & under
Premier Financial Credit Union will be sponsoring its annual Easter Egg Hunt starting at 11 a.m. sharp at Civic Park. Children ages 10 and under are invited to come to the park to search for candy-filled eggs. (Premier Financial Credit Union, 4/8)

BoDeans coming to Paperfest for free concert
Wisconsin-based rock band BoDeans is the second national headliner to be announced for the 35th Annual Paperfest coming in July to Kimberly. The free concert will be at Sunset Park, Kimberly on Saturday, July 15 with the BoDeans taking the stage at 9 p.m. Earlier Paperfest announced multi-platinum recording artist Jerrod Niemann will headline a free concert July 14. Paperfest, presented by Community First Credit Union, brings the fun to Sunset Park in Kimberly on July 13-16, 2023. (Community First Credit Union, 4/13)

 

Supporting Financial Literacy

U.S. Rep. Steil: Hosts roundtable on rising interest rates in Oak Creek
Today, Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01) hosted a roundtable in Oak Creek, WI focused on the impact high interest rates have on Wisconsin families and workers. In the wake of rising interest rates, and the high-profile Silicon Valley Bank collapse, Congressman Steil hosted the roundtable to hear from Wisconsin workers, business owners, and representatives from Wisconsin banks and credit unions that have been impacted by rising rates. Area lenders and Steil discussed these difficulties and the actions that can be administered locally and federally to protect Wisconsin borrowers. (Wisconsin Credit Union League, Educators Credit Union, 4/10)

Students participate in ‘Test Drive®...Next Stop Reality’ event
An event in Chippewa Falls is helping high school students better understand money and finances. The “Test Drive®...Next Stop Reality” event, sponsored by Royal Credit Union, helps students prepare for the future. The simulation starts where students choose a career path, research the education needed, calculate the average starting salary for that job and expected student loan debt. Then they are assigned a family status at random and use the information they’ve gathered to make financial decisions. (Royal Credit Union, 4/11)

 

Investing in Communities

Superior Choice Credit Union to open Monday
Superior Choice Credit Union announces the opening of a new branch at 501 Macauley Ave., in Rice Lake. The newly built 8,000-square-foot stand-alone building was ready to service members as of Monday. (Superior Choice Credit Union, 4/23)

 

Fostering Excellence

RAMAC announces annual 2023 Business Awards
 Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce (RAMAC) has announced the recipients of its 2023 Business Awards. The winners, nominated by RAMAC members, will be honored at an awards dinner on Thursday, April 27. (Educators Credit Union, 4/5)
