Virtual Experience

The National Credit Union Foundation Exploring Why Workshop is an experiential training that empowers employees at all levels to understand and leverage the Credit Union Difference to drive greater value for your members and organization.

We will explore the foundational roots of US credit unions including the pioneers and principles behind their success, but this isn’t just a trip down memory lane! We’ll also spend time discussing how credit unions are making a difference in the lives of their members and communities today, and how we can leverage our unique business model to ensure marketplace relevancy in the future. You will gain an understanding of the importance of “why” and what it means for you and your credit union.

Agenda

Day 1 | July 28

The Credit Union Difference

Learn about the structural and philosophical differences between credit unions and other financial institutions as well as how to leverage those differences to create competitive advantages in the marketplace.

Cooperative Principles

Most people think of credit unions primarily as financial institutions, but our fundamental values and structure also identify us as cooperatives. As cooperative financial institutions, credit unions stand for financial democracy through our Cooperative Principles.

Origins of the Credit Union Movement

A perspective on the past can often help us understand the present. We are on an ever-changing path with a never-changing purpose.

Day 2 | July 30

CU Leaders Panel

Hear from leaders in the movement who are driving credit unions forward as they share perspectives on what we need to do to ensure the future of our members and credit unions.

Philosophy in Action

Credit unions have the opportunity to be more than just another financial institution. Share stories of the credit union difference in action and how credit unions continue to serve and find solutions for members.

Our Aligned Values

Link your personal core values with the values of the credit union movement and understand how we can live our values to meet existing and future challenges in the marketplace.
