Greater Fox Cities Chapter Legislative Night and WCULAF Auction

On February 3, credit unions from the Greater Fox Cities held their Pints & Politics event at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton. During their meeting, attendees heard from elected officials and participated in a WCULAF auction that raised over $1,000!
 
The Wisconsin Credit Union Legislative Auction Fund (WCULAF) is a political action committee sponsored by The League that supports state level candidates. If you would like to add your support for our credit union firendly candidates for office, consider the options below.
 

Three Credit Unions Honored with Governor's Financial Literacy Awards

On Wednesday, Governor Evers honored over a dozen individuals, businesses, and organizations with the 2019 Governor's Financial Literacy Awards. Altra Federal Credit Union, Educators Credit Union, and Summit Credit Union were among the recipients.
 
Educators Credit Union was honored for their Reality Check Days, which offer high school students in Southeast Wisconsin the chance to manage a hypothetical adult's monthly budget. Students plan their finances in response to real world externailities and desired purchases.
 
Altra Federal Credit Union was honored for their work creating informative financial presentations, covering an array of different financial topics. Over the past five years, their presentations reached over 21,000 youths and 7,100 adults. The presentations are part of a larger goal to expand and improve financial literacy in Wisconsin.
 
Summit Credit Union was honored for their work in the Madison area school district, most recently the opening of the Madison West High School in-school branch. Their work in the Madison community helps support young adults daily, by providing resources to be financially successful.

Cooperative Network's 2020 Wisconsin Co-op Day at the Capitol

On February 5, Credit Union Activists and League staff participated in the Cooperative Network's 2020 Wisconsin Co-op Day at the Capitol. The day brought Wisconsin cooperatives from across the state together to educate on the impact of cooperatives and advocates on various issues. Activists and fellow cooperatives visited more than 30 legislative office visits, sharing the importance of The Credit Union Difference.

Meeting NCUA Board Members at the The Rochdale & Paragon Volunteer Leadership Institute

While attending the Rochdale & Paragon Volunteer Leadership Institute, League Board Chair Val Mindak (Park City Credit Union) had the opportunity to meet and chat with the National Credit Union Association(NCUA) Board Members Todd Harper and Mark McWatters (pictured, left and center). In their conversation, the three discussed hemp farms and businesses and the agency's new examination platform, MERIT.
