Credit Unions Seek Automatic Forgiveness for PPP Loans under $150,000
CUNA President and CEO Jim Nussle sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in support of S. 4117 - the Paycheck Protection Program Small Business Forgiveness Act. His advocacy comes on the heels of efforts by Wisconsin Activists who sought support for the bill last month during The League's 2020 Virtual Hike the Hill.
S. 4177 / HR. 7777 would provide automatic forgiveness for PPP loans of $150,000 or less, which represents the vast majority of loans made by Wisconsin credit unions. The average Wisconsin credit union PPP loan was just $37,300.
