Last month, the Annual Finance & Investment Challenge Bowl was held at Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) in Eau Claire. The Finance and Investment Challenge Bowl (FICB) is a quiz bowl competition that helps teach high school students about personal finance and economics. FICB aligns with statewide learning standards and is an effective strategy to promote learning. The Competition features student teams competing for trophies and fabulous prizes in an atmosphere of friendly competition.

Alongside Asset Builders of America Inc., volunteers from the Chippewa Valley Chapter of Credit Unions helped host, judge, and facilitate this year’s event including WESTconsin Credit Union, Co-op Credit Union, and Royal Credit Union.

Students from River Falls, Mondovi, Alma Center, Bloomer, Altoona, and Augusta competed in the challenge. In addition, Wisconsin State Senator Jeff Smith (31st district)  served as “Quizmaster” in one of the rooms as well as State Representative Jesse James (68th district). This was a great opportunity to showcase to legislators credit unions' financial literacy efforts in real-time!

In 2019, 2021, and 2022, The League's 7 Rivers Region Chapter received a REAL Solutions® Initiative Grant from The Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation to help support the Finance & Investment Challenge Bowl program.
