Giving Back

Community shredding event happening May 20 in Onalaska
People who have confidential documents they'd like to dispose of can do so at a free shredding event on Saturday, May 20 in Onalaska. Altra Federal Credit Union, Confidential Records, and La Crosse Area Crimestoppers are holding the event at Altra's Onalaska Operations Center at 1700 Oak Forest Drive. It runs from 8 a.m. until noon or until the shred trucks are full-whichever happens first. (Altra Federal Credit Union, 5/18)

Capital Credit Union hosts rooftop fundraiser for mental health
Capital Credit Union is hosting a Rooftop Fundraiser at the Morris Avenue location near Oneida Street as part of the Inner Voice Out campaign. The money will benefit Foundations Health & Wholeness in Green Bay and Samaritan of the Fox Valley. (Capital Credit Union, 5/18)

RCU Foundation Announces $300,000 Gift to the Hudson Sports and Civic Center
The RCU Foundation made a $300,000 gift to the Hudson Hockey Association in support of the remodel of the Hudson Sport and Civic Center. The current facility has been a part of the Hudson community since 1988 and needed upgrades to the safety, HVAC, and accessibility systems to serve the future. (Royal Credit Union, 5/18)

Strawberry Festival returns to Cedarburg June 24 and 25
Cedarburg Strawberry Festival will make its return June 24 and 25 -- bringing together thousands of people to enjoy summer's luscious fruit. The 36th annual Strawberry Festival, presented by Summit Credit Union, is a free, family-oriented event where folks can celebrate the strawberry, enjoy live music, shop original artwork from hundreds of artists, and enjoy strawberry-focused food and beverages. Record attendance at Summit Fest – Summit Credit Union’s annual meeting
Summit Credit Union again held a novel annual membership meeting and family event called Summit Fest, welcoming 3505 members on Sunday, May 22. This is the largest attendance recorded for Summit’s annual member appreciation event. Members and their families took part in kids’ obstacle races, enjoyed yard games, and spent a fun time together eating a Wisconsin summer cookout. (Summit Credit Union, 5/25)

WESTconsin Credit Union Holds Summer Food Drive
To help aid those in our community facing food insecurity, the WESTconsin Credit Union Summer Food Drive will kick off on Thursday, June 1 and run through Saturday, June 17. WESTconsin will accept donations of non-perishable food items in offices during this time. Additionally, monetary donations can be made at any WESTconsin office with a Member Service Representative or through drive-ups. Proceeds will be distributed by the credit union to local food pantries and other community organizations. (WESTconsin, 5/25)

  

Creating Community

Brewers Return Home for a 6 Game Homestand
The Milwaukee Brewers return to American Family Field Monday to begin a two-series homestand against the Los Angeles Dodgers (May 8-10) and the Kansas City Royals (May 12-14). A galaxy far, far away is coming to American Family Field with the Brewers celebrating Star Wars™ Night on Saturday, May 13. Fans can purchase a special Theme Night ticket package and receive an exclusive Ueck Skywalker bobblehead, courtesy of 620 WTMJ, Home of the Brewers. (UW Credit Union, 5/8)

MMCCU to Sponsor “Movies in the Park” Summer Events
MMCCU is thrilled to announce its sponsorship of the highly anticipated “Movies in the Park” events, taking place this summer in Marshfield. The series of outdoor movie screenings aims to bring the community together for a memorable cinematic experience under the stars. (Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union, 5/30)

Sounds Like What? Sounds Like Summer! Here’s the 2023 Lineup
Birds chirping, a light wind blowing, and some great local music playing: That’s what sounds like summer. Volume One’s Sounds Like Summer Concert Series will be making a triumphant return this summer, with live local music performed every Thursday night from 6-8:30pm at Phoenix Park. Awarding Scholarships

Fort Community Credit Union Provides $2,000 FCCU Scholarship to Lauren Lescohier
A full auditorium greeted approximately 71 Fort Atkinson High School Class of 2023 graduating seniors as they gathered on stage Wednesday in anticipation of the evening’s scholarship awards ceremony. Fort Atkinson High School Counselor Samantha Ahler opened the event with a speech welcoming family members, friends, school district administration and some 40 presenters, all of whom participated in a two-hour ceremony during which some $643,000 in scholarship funds were distributed among the students on the stage. More than $1.5 million in scholarships awarded to Ripon High School seniors during recognition night
Members of the Ripon High School Class of 2023 met in the auditorium last week Wednesday for the annual senior recognition night and took home a potential $1,529,400 in scholarships. ("Golden Rule" Community Credit Union, 5/26)

 

Investing in Communities

The new YMCA in De Pere offers activities for both physical and financial fitness at Capital Credit Union
The new YMCA in Northeast Wisconsin is about physical and financial fitness. So, it seems only fitting that it’s located in a credit union. (Capital Credit Union, 5/1)

WESTconsin Credit Union to celebrate new office in Baldwin
WESTconsin Credit Union invites the public to their Grand Opening Celebration May 15-20 to commemorate the recent opening of the new Baldwin location. The credit union has been operating in the Baldwin community since 1979. The new office, located at 1050 Cedar Street, provides members with additional space, equipment, and technology, and the same staff and services they have come to expect and appreciate from WESTconsin Credit Union. Fostering Excellence

The Fox Cities P.A.C. Reveals 2022 Distinguished Service Award Recipients
The Distinguished Service Award is an esteemed award given by the Fox Cities P.A.C. to recognize individuals, businesses or organizations within the community who show exemplary involvement in and support of the Center's mission. The awarded recipients are being recognized for their service in advancing the local arts community and the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center's mission through advocacy, volunteerism and fund development beyond what is considered standard contributions. Progress Lakeshore Honors Five Local Businesses for their Economic Achievements
Progress Lakeshore held its 2023 Awards Breakfast Tuesday at the Venue at Union Square in Manitowoc. The following five awards were presented to local businesses and individuals for contributions to the Lakeshore community. (UnitedOne Credit Union, Fox Community Credit Union, 5/10)

MMCCU’s David Murphy Completes Solar Lending Certificate Program
David Murphy, President at Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU), has completed the Solar Lending Professional Training certificate in consumer solar lending through the University of New Hampshire and Inclusiv. The certificate program provides training in all aspects of solar lending and offers tools for credit unions to engage in renewable energy finance. (Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union, 5/16)

Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce: Fox Communities Credit Union named PULSE Champion of Young Professionals
Fox Communities Credit Union has been named a PULSE Champion of Young Professionals (YPs) by the Fox Cities Chamber. This designation recognizes employers who pledge to provide support and a positive work environment for YPs within their company. (Fox Communities Credit Union, 5/18)

Royal Credit Union re-elects board members at annual meeting
 Royal Credit Union held its 59th annual meeting on April 25 at Royal’s Corporate Center. Two board members were re-elected to three-year terms — Nancy Beltz and Tom Huffcutt. Beltz was elected to Royal Credit Union’s Board of Directors in 1999. She currently serves on the Finance Committee and is past Chair of the Audit Committee. (Royal Credit Union, 5/23)
