Giving Back

WESTconsin Credit Union Celebrates National Cooperative Month
Since 1948, National Cooperative Month has been observed nationwide. This year has also been declared the Year of the Cooperative by the United Nations. As a financial cooperative, WESTconsin Credit Union will be honoring International Credit Union Day (ICUD) on Thursday, October 16. For every debit or credit card swipe made on ICU Day, WESTconsin will donate $0.10—up to $1,000—to the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition. This donation supports their mission to advocate for public policy, education, and research that improve the lives of those affected by breast cancer. (WESTconsin Credit Union, 10/1)

Stock the Shelves returns for 2025. Here's why we want to raise money for 550K meals
The Stock the Shelves campaign is back and ready to stuff food pantries across eastern Wisconsin, just in time for the holidays. According to Feeding America's 2025 Map the Meal Gap study, nearly 700,000 people in the state were considered food insecure in 2023, the most recent year for which data is available. "When people find themselves in serious need they turn to their communities, and their local pantries, for aid," said Arnold. "It's important that those resources are there for them, and that's why we repeat this campaign every year." (Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions, 10/1)

Royal Credit Union supports three local food banks in honor of Hunger Action Month
Royal Credit Union (Royal) displayed its commitment to fighting food insecurity during Hunger Action Month by donating a total of $15,000 to three local food banks: Feed My People Food Bank, Second Harvest Heartland, and St. Croix Valley Food Bank. In addition to these generous donations, Royal team members rolled up their sleeves and volunteered at each organization, embodying the credit union’s core purpose of creating a positive impact.  . MMCCU to Celebrate 60 Years with Community Event Benefiting Ronald McDonald House
Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU) is proud to celebrate 60 years of serving its members and the community. To mark this milestone, MMCCU will host a Member Appreciation Event on Tuesday, October 21, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at 302 W. Upham Street, Marshfield. The event is open to the public and will benefit the Ronald McDonald House. Guests can look forward to an evening of fun, food, and entertainment for all ages. Bucky Badger Visits Madison Credit Union to Celebrate Backpack Drive
Madison Credit Union was thrilled to welcome Bucky Badger to our branch on October 2nd, (his 85th Birthday!) to celebrate our recognition as one of the top contributors to the Goodman Community Center’s annual Back-to-School Backpack and School Supply Drive. (Madison Credit Union, 10/7)

CoVantage Credit Union offers relief amid government shutdown
 CoVantage Credit Union is stepping in to help federal employees and government contractors affected by the ongoing federal government shutdown. The credit union announced it is offering no-fee, low-interest personal loans with a 3% discount on unsecured annual percentage rates and the option to defer the first payment for up to 90 days. Wisconsin’s Credit Unions bring to life concern for community on International Credit Union Day
Today marks the 77th International Credit Union Day, and Wisconsin’s credit unions are celebrating by giving back to their communities. This week, over 40 Wisconsin credit unions and The League are demonstrating their commitment to the cooperative principles, including Concern for Community and Cooperation Among Cooperatives, during a statewide, week-long CU Community Days event. From combatting food insecurity to assembling hygiene kits, to highway cleanup and much more, credit unions across the state are illustrating just some of the ways they work throughout the year to foster the well-being of all Wisconsinites. Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union to offer Private Education Loans
Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU) is expanding its services to members with the launch of a new Private Education Loan program. The offering provides solutions for borrowers who want to refinance or consolidate existing student loans, as well as options for students still enrolled in school. Investing In Communities

Hundreds show up to the pumpkin patch at the 400 block during the annual Harvest Fest
Wausau Events hosted their annual Harvest Fest on Saturday, October 4, on Wausau’s 400 Block. The entire square transformed into a pumpkin patch with more than 20 kids’ activities and crafts, a full petting zoo, and more. Kids who came in their costumes received a special treat. Approximately 2,500 people attended the event, with people lining up before it began. Every child age 12 and under can receive a free pumpkin thanks to CoVantage Credit Union. From hospital hallways to Marshfield cornerstone: MMCCU celebrates 60 years
Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union (MMCCU) is celebrating its 60th anniversary this October. MMCCU President David Murphy said that the company has continued to grow and adapt over the years to remain here for the Marshfield community. The credit union was established in 1965 by 25 employees of St Joseph’s Hospital to serve healthcare workers and their immediate family members. (Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union, 10/18)

Landmark Credit Union Appoints Timothy Mackay as President & CEO
 Landmark Credit Union today announced that its board of directors appointed Timothy Mackay as president and chief executive officer, effective Oct. 13. Mackay succeeds Jay Magulski, who shared his plans to retire from Landmark earlier this year. “We’ve concluded a thoughtful, nationwide search with the help of Korn Ferry, a global executive search firm, to identify Landmark’s next president and CEO,” said Brian Dorow, chairperson of Landmark’s board of directors. 54 Credit Union Leaders From Across The United States Designated As Credit Union Development Educators
The National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation) today announced 54 credit union leaders from across the United States, were designated as Credit Union Development Educators (CUDEs) after completing the National Credit Union Foundation’s signature Development Education (DE) program in September 2025. UnitedOne Credit Union Named a Top Workplace for Women
An Eastern Wisconsin financial institution is being praised for its support of women. UnitedOne Credit Union was ranked 17th nationally for medium-sized organizations in the “Best Places to Work for Women” list put together by Best Companies Group. UnitedOne was also ranked #2 in the “Best Credit Unions to Work For” list made by American Banker earlier this year. (UnitedOne Credit Union, 10/10)

Superior Choice Credit Union announces new CEO
Superior Choice Credit Union (SCCU) is excited to announce the appointment of Adam Keer as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 6, 2025. Royal Credit Union’s Grant Beardsley Appointed to Wisconsin Credit Union Review Board
Royal Credit Union (Royal) is proud to announce that its EVP- Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel, Grant Beardsley, has been appointed to the Wisconsin Credit Union Review Board (CURB) by Governor Tony Evers. (Royal Credit Union, 10/29)

 

Supporting Financial Literacy

DFI Secretary-designee Wendy K. Baumann Visits Royal Credit Union to Highlight Youth Financial Education and Credit Union Innovation
 The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) Secretary-designee Wendy K. Baumann and DFI Assistant Deputy Secretary Catherine Haberland visited Royal Credit Union (Royal) on Wednesday, October 1, to engage with students participating in Royal’s School $ense program, a financial education initiative that operates 30 student-run credit union branches in elementary, middle, and high schools across the state. Educators Credit Union opens sixth high school branch at South Milwaukee High School
Today is the grand opening of Educators Credit Union’s sixth high school branch in southeastern Wisconsin. It’s located inside South Milwaukee High School near the cafeteria and next to the school store. The purpose is to provide students with an accessible space to increase their financial literacy knowledge and empower them to manage and save their money at an early age.
