Interview: “Meet to Eat” for the Free Clinic happening Thursday
The Open Door Clinic is excited for their Meet to Eat For the Free Clinic event once again this year. This event is the sole community fundraiser that the Clinic holds, otherwise relying on local donations and grants in order to provide free health care to uninsured Chippewa County residents. Youth bike race to fight child hunger
A Formula 1-inspired bicycle race for children will raise funds Aug. 9 for a local program that feeds hundreds of food-insecure students each weekend. The inaugural Marshfield Mini 500 will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4001 S. Business Park Ave. The event is open to children 15 and younger, with entry fees of $10 per rider. Spectators and volunteers may attend for free. All proceeds will benefit the Nutrition on Weekends program, or NOW, which provides ready-to-eat food for local children who may lack access to meals over weekends. The program has served more than 600 children weekly across multiple school districts since 2013, according to race organizers. (Simplicity Credit Union, 8/8)
WESTconsin again helps kids get ready for school
WESTconsin Credit Union is once again gearing up support for local students who will be returning to school this fall with their Scrub-A-Dub Drive. From Monday, Aug. 18, through Saturday, Aug. 30, WESTconsin offices will accept donations of personal hygiene products at all offices in the Kindness Counts collection bins near lobby entrances. Examples of items include soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, lotions, hair combs and brushes, and feminine products. (WESTconsin Credit Union, 8/13)
Marshfield rallies behind local youth, raising $1.1M for Boys & Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield has surpassed its $1 million fundraising goal, raising a total of $1,108,968, according to a community announcement. The campaign, launched in March, aimed to cover startup costs and support operations for the club's first two years. The funds will help establish a strong foundation for long-term impact, according to the announcement. The club opened its first school-based site at Grant Elementary this summer, serving 91 children with enriching activities and mentorship.

MMCCU Root Beer Float Fundraiser raises $643 for Children’s Miracle Network
MMCCU raised $643 through its Root Beer Float Fundraiser held on Wednesday, August 27 at the Four Seasons Cafeteria in Marshfield Medical Center. Proceeds will directly benefit children receiving care at Marshfield Children’s Hospital through Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals. Attendees enjoyed root beer floats served by MMCCU Business Development Specialist Tiffany Schara and Children's Miracle Network Program Officer Mason Dowling, who welcomed community members, staff, and families to take part in the cause. Northwood Tech Opens Medical Laboratory Education Center In New Richmond
Northwood Technical College held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 27 to celebrate the official opening of its new Medical Laboratory Education Center, located at 821 W. 8th St. in New Richmond. College leadership, healthcare partners, and community supporters gathered at the new center to celebrate the launch and its role in addressing critical workforce shortages in the region. UW Credit Union: Awards $30,000 in scholarships to UW System students
Ten UW System students were awarded $3,000 this month through UW Credit Union’s Community Values Scholarship program. The annual award recognizes undergraduate students throughout Wisconsin for their volunteerism, campus engagement and community-centered employment. 2025 marks a record number of Community Values applicants, with submissions increasing by 100% annually since 2022. As students grapple with economic uncertainty and an evolving federal loan landscape, many are feeling the pinch. Scholarships are in high demand and offer a way for students to offset tuition and the rising costs of textbooks. (UW Credit Union, 8/26)

Royal Credit Union Names new Young Professional Credit Union Activists
Royal Credit Union (Royal) has named Noel Knickelbien and Kendall Geving as the new Royal Credit Union Young Professional Credit Union Activists (YP CU Activists).
