On April 15, Gov. Tony Evers honored eight individuals and five organizations as recipients of the 2020 Governor’s Financial Literacy Awards in a virtual ceremony. The recipients were honored for their efforts in helping Wisconsinites build their financial literacy and capability skills. 7 Rivers Region Chapter of Credit Unions, Royal Credit Union, Educators Credit Union, and Marine Credit Union Foundation were among the recipients.

As Gov. Tony Evers proclaims April as Financial Literacy and Capability Month and as National Credit Union Youth Month, Wisconsin’s credit unions are spotlighting their work with members, schools and community groups to promote and foster financial well-being.

In March, The Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation's Board of Directors approved renaming its Development Education (DE) Scholarship the Pat Wesenberg Development Education (DE) Scholarship in memory of Pat Wesenberg, the former President of Simplicity Credit Union and longtime advocate for The Credit Union Movement who passed away in February after an extended illness.

If there's anything Wisconsinites know, it's how to have fun in the snow! Last week, 157 participants from across the state raised over $11,000 to support The Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation's mission through its Frozen Fitness Fundraiser.

The Wisconsin Credit Union League is urging passage of a key elder financial abuse prevention bill to help seniors targeted for illegal and fraudulent withdrawals and other transactions.
